9:00 am - 11:30 am

WHERE:

Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods
17000 Armstrong Woods Rd

This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn more about our magnificent Coast Redwoods. The workshop is especially useful for classroom teachers, docents and outdoor educators who teach groups at Armstrong. Participants will receive a CD of Redwood Ed, a 400+ page guide to learning and teaching about redwoods. We will explore Redwood Ed, practice some of the activities, and increase our understanding of outdoor and environmental education. Participants will also receive specimens and additional resources to use in their curriculm. (Be sure to bring a tote or large bag, or two!)

Mike will host a follow-up workshop in October called Hike with Mike, teaching how to lead groups in Armstrong. Redwood Ed participants are encouraged to register.

Instructor(s): Mike Roa is a retired teacher (4th grade – post grad). He is the author of Redwood Ed, A Guide to the Side of the Sea, and The Conifer Connection (all published by CA State Parks) as well as other environmental education resources. In his “retirement,” Mike serves as a docent for Stewards, organizes the North Bay Science Challenge, helps organize the North Bay Science Discovery Day, and produces the Grapevine, a science and environmental ed. e-newsletter.

Meets: Armstrong Redwoods Volunteer Center/Stewards Office, 17000 Armstrong Woods Rd, Guerneville, CA 95446

Stewards members receive a 20% discount on registration fees. Not a member? Join today!
