As a nonprofit partner to California State Parks, Stewards plays a vital role in supporting education, conservation, and community engagement across some of Northern California’s most treasured landscapes, including the historic Pond Farm Pottery, Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, Austin Creek Recreation Area, and the Sonoma Coast State Park. Our work depends on dedicated volunteers and leaders who bring their time, expertise, and enthusiasm to advancing our mission.
We are currently seeking individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills, whether in nonprofit governance, law, fundraising, education, cultural preservation, communications, or community outreach, who are eager to make a meaningful impact. Board and committee members collaborate closely with staff and fellow volunteers to guide programs, strengthen organizational capacity, and ensure the long-term stewardship of these remarkable places.
Serving with Stewards offers a unique opportunity to:
- Contribute to the preservation of coastal and redwood parklands and cultural sites
- Support educational and interpretive programs for the public
- Build connections with a community of engaged and mission-driven individuals
- Help shape the future of a growing and dynamic organization
Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods mission is to protect the natural and cultural resources of Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, Austin Creek State Recreation Area, and Sonoma Coast State Park through volunteerism, environmental education, and stewardship for generations to come. Our vision is a vibrant, diverse community of people, programs, and partnerships that ensures the resilience of the lands and waters sustaining all living things.
The State Parks of Sonoma County’s coast and Russian River valley are rich in natural and cultural history, biological diversity and distinctive geology. We promote our mission with the help of volunteers, by providing park visitors of all ages with a variety of programs and opportunities to experience and explore these exceptional parks. With your support, Stewards will continue to support efforts to secure a sustainable funding source for your state parks. All donations help us achieve our goal of keeping your parks open and thriving.
